Good morning, Oddies! Alexis here with my first project of 2019! It’s hard to believe we’re only 12 months away from celebrating another decade!

As you’ve undoubtably heard, Some Odd Girl will be releasing a series of Zodiac images and I’m so excited about it. Astrology has always been a huge interest of mine and I can’t wait to make cards using these new Digis.

My first project is using Capricorn, who is a sweet little Victorian looking goat girl. Some of the best people I’ve known are Capricorn‘s, including my late husband, so I’ll always have a fondness for the sign and wanted to make a really cool project with it.

I approached the making of this card by researching common symbolism with the sign. Garnet is January birthstone color, so I used that for her hair and some of the sequins used to decorate the card. Colors associated with the sign itself are indigo and black, so I used that as one of the background layers. One of the lucky stones for the Capricorn is the Emerald, so that became her dress color. Since Capricorn is an Earth sign, I used a lot of those tones mingled together in the inked background I created. Finally, I created the Capricorn constellation along the side of the card. I have it tattooed on my arm, so I have a pretty good reference point! HA!

It’s been a long time since I’ve done this much research into a card assembly, but I really love that it shouts Capricorn as soon as you look at it. I can’t wait to work on Aquarius next! Which sign are you most excited to work with?
